Stephen Dolan
CEO at Tuple · Builder and engineer
I've spent my career taking responsibility for more and more of the problem: from writing backend code and PostgreSQL stored procedures, to scoping enterprise implementations, to leading teams and operations, and now to running Tuple.
Experience
Tuple Remote pair programming for engineering teams
2021 – PresentCEO
Returned Tuple to growth, reaching 12% YoY ARR growth and millions in annual revenue and profit with a 9-person remote team. Led the engineering team's move from broad skepticism about coding agents to using them for most development work within months. Built Sherlock, an internal multi-agent system that researches requests, publishes reports, and submits PRs to improve its own skills.
Interim CEO
Stepped up from COO when the co-founders left day-to-day operations. Kept product work moving, the team aligned, and enterprise relationships strong through the transition.
Chief Operating Officer
Owned marketing, inbound sales, support, customer success, enterprise renewals, finance, and bookkeeping. Coordinated the product roadmap in Linear, translating priorities across engineering and customer-facing teams.
Chief of Staff
Served as a force multiplier for Tuple's CEO, turning priorities into reliable follow-through and execution. Led hiring initiatives that grew the team and managed the B2B sales process.
Head of Sales and Success
Rebuilt the process for untended enterprise accounts and inbound leads. Organized the existing book of business and owned contracts, legal redlines, and renewal negotiations.
MerchLogix Retail analytics software
2013 – 2021Director of Account Engineering
Built and led the account engineering team for enterprise retailers. Traveled onsite to understand how customers worked, wrote specs, scoped integrations, and worked with engineering to turn those requirements into practical product changes.
Account Engineer / Backend Developer
Started as a backend developer, writing Perl, PHP, and complex SQL against terabytes of PostgreSQL data. Moved into account engineering to gather requirements, configure the product, write specs, and manage technical integrations for enterprise retailers.
